CA Global: Africa Positions has a client that is in need of a Camp Manager. The position is based in Madagascar.
Overview:
The Superintendent Camps and Housing supervises directly the Operations Camp (OC), the Construction Camp (CC), the Senior Management Village (SMV), and a dozen leased houses situated in Tamatave City.
He supports the operations of the Camp at the Minesite near Moramanga in close liaison with the Manager, Minesite.
In this role, the responsibilities of the Superintendent include:
Management of catering, housekeeping and administration of OC, CC and SMV.
Planning, organizing and drafting company procedures and rules.
Preparation of tender for catering services with Contract department, analysis of the bids and making final recommendations.
Direct supervision of the contractors appointed for catering, housekeeping, gardening in respect of: water treatment, emergency power generators, water distribution facilities, waste disposal, landscaping, cleaning of accommodation and common facilities in the Camps.
Recruitment, training and supervision of the staff complement of his department.
Organization and facilitation of regular inspections by Security, HS teams.
Execution of regular inspections of the facilities to make sure that housekeeping standards are met to create a safe and healthy environment for the residents.
Preparation of yearly Budgets to operate the facilities and getting approval thereof from Senior Management.
Monitoring and organization of food and beverage procurement by the caterer, both for the Camps as well as for the canteens located within Plant Site.
Control of the contractors to make sure that they comply with Malagasy regulations in particular Labour Code, and the company’s code of conduct for personnel.

Industry Background :
Solid background in management of catering, housekeeping and administration of camps with knowledge of appropriate systems, records and documentation associated with camps supervision and planning
Experience :
Five years in a similar position with responsibilities in contractors management, budget development, cost control and problem solving
Soft Skills:
Must possess a strong work ethic and able to build lasting relationships with suppliers, contractors and clients
Ability and willingness to communicate and train people of diverse nationalities, cultural backgrounds and levels of education
Ability to organize and motivate members of his team, especially Malagasy nationals
Bilingual English and French is essential to be able to maintain proficient channels of communication with expatriates and local Malagasy communities
