Responsibilities:
Our client is an international company involved in power plants in Africa. They are currently looking to employ a Performance Engineer.
- The Performance Engineer, whilst carrying out his monitoring duties, initiates trouble-shooting activities together with or independently of, the shift operations engineer of plant and control systems. he reports his findings to the necessary department for correction, if appropriate, and to the shift operations engineer for essential information.
- He develops and operates computer modelling systems, e.g. plant optimisation models etc
The interface with commercial management is an essential facet of the duties of the performance engineer with regard to the daily preparation of forecasts of plant operating performance for commercial bidding purposes. He is fully aware of the financial implications of his decisions and advice. - His experience and knowledge allows him to contribute to the development of operational reports. His is aware that major financial considerations may be made based on such reports.
- He uses his knowledge of the plant and control systems to design modifications to process controls. He is fully capable of writing and developing software for such modifications or models, etc..
- The Performance Engineer will undertake to carry out performance and capacity testing of the power plant and desalination plant and its systems after commissioning.
- He maintains constant dialogue with the operations manager so that policy decisions may be made using the most up-to-date information.
Qualifications:
15 years experience on process plant at least 10 of which has been occupied with power and desalination plant, and at least 5 of which shall have been employed in a similar capacity.
A professional engineer with a degree in mechanical or E/CI engineering.
