Operations Manager- Power Plants (Portuguese Speaking) Mozambique / Mozambique

Responsibilities

Revenue Maximisation & Cost Control

�� Delivers the required project margins and other financial goals through optimum utilization of personnel, equipment and material resources, the setup of proper control systems, minimization of equipment downtime and sound expense control.

�� Coordinates and controls, through SIMS, the ordering of spares and consumables to ensure we maintain optimum levels of inventory while meeting the project's operational requirements.

�� Ensures back up documentation is correct and is submitted to Commercial Department on a timely basis to enable accurate invoicing and maintains close contact with the Customer’s financial organisation to help facilitate speedy payment of our invoices. �� May also be responsible for the preparation of draft invoices and submission of same to client

�� Provides input when requested into monthly project costs and cost forecasts �� Conducts quarterly stock and cable audits.

�� Sources and manages local purchases and services.�� Responsible for maintaining site financial records including bank reconciliations and petty cash.

�� Responsible for producing 4 week rolling cash forecasts. Customer Support and Field Operations

�� Organizes personnel, equipment and material resources in the most productive and cost effective way to meet power production requirements. Ensures the project personnel are given the resources and support required to perform a safe and high quality job and, if need be, prompt and effective assistance in the handling of any major operational failures or accidents.

�� Organizes related logistics such as personnel certification, work schedules,equipment movement records, material supplies flow, transportation of equipment etc.

�� Ensures that all required site reports are accurate and submitted on time.

�� Responds to Customer's calls and contract requirements in a professional and timely manner, ensuring our personnel and equipment are always properly prepared for the delivery of services.

�� Constantly evaluates the quality of job execution through systematic analysis of lost time incidents, failure and risk analysis to promptly determine their cause and the corrective actions needed. Maintains accurate trip reports and ensures that they are signed off by client duly noting responsibility for the outage.

�� Leads, by example, a continuous improvement program.

�� Schedules and conducts regular Service Quality Meetings with the Customer.

�� Fully implements and actively promotes respect for publics other external agency's regulatory requirements. Ensures that the personnel and equipment at the location always project a professional image.

�� Constantly evaluates the safety effectiveness of operations through systematic analysis of near misses and accidents, to promptly determine their cause and the corrective actions required in terms of personnel awareness/training and/or equipment standards/maintenance.

�� Actively and visibly participates in HSE and Operations Improvement Meeting's.Gets all his employees involved and promotes their participation to the topics presented.

�� Defines and maintains the Emergency Response Plan for the location.

�� Leads the Local Response Team, as defined in the Crisis Management Plan.Marketing, Technology & Sales

�� Keeps Area Directors, Sales and Marketing informed of the local market activityand conditions.

�� Communicates on any competitor activity in country to Area Directors, Sales and Marketing.

�� Assists in field trials of new equipment and gives required feedback.

Personnel Management

�� Maintains an environment of trust, care and respect built on listening to employees and recognizing their achievements.

�� Promotes a people-oriented culture where employees are valued as individual persons as well as for their professional contributions.

�� Manages the performance of subordinates through the Management by Objective concept. This includes the definition of Job Descriptions and Standards of Performance, coaching, counselling and conducting quarterly Progress Reviews and annual Performance Appraisals for each and every employee reporting to him/her.

�� Delegate responsibilities and activities as might be judged necessary to enhance the role of every team member while allowing the Operations Manager to focus on his/her core responsibilities.

�� Motivates people to work to the best of their ability as part of the team through open communications, regular meetings, attention to their needs and recognition for individual contributions and team accomplishments.

�� Promotes, organises and controls the career training of field personnel.

�� Identifies and assists in the recruitment of local staff.

�� Manages disciplinary and grievance procedures.

�� Ensures that the location operates within the dictates of local laws and regulations.

�� Organises visas and work permits as required by local legislation.

�� Maintains and update local/country orientation guides.

Equipment Management

�� Ensures that all the required maintenance reporting procedures are adhered to for all equipment under his/her control.

�� Submission of technical records and warranty claims.

�� Sources locally competent repairs centres for alternators, engines etc.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

�� Carefully prepares and provides, in a timely manner, the routine monthly reportsand other extraordinary ones requested by the Area Directors and Area Operations Manager.

�� Develops strong cooperation and good communication with managers from other projects and departments.

�� Manages his/her operations and personnel/customer relations under a strict code of professional behaviour and business ethics.

�� Approves all purchase requisitions and local purchases for materials and supplies for the project that fall within his/her stipulated financial limits.

�� Approves vacations and training related personnel expense reports within his/her authority limits.

�� Participates in the local staff selection process. Recommends the removal of employees where there has been persistent poor performance, misconduct or unethical behaviour. Recommends promotions where merited.

�� Stops, in an emergency, any job on location that in his/her opinion is dangerous

�� Is pro-active in submitting contractual data including salient dates Development Training Internal Training
