Mine Geologist

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will help optimise ore extraction, with respect to both tonnes and grade. This key role relies on provision of timely grade control information on a shift by shift basis, associated with the application of both sampling and visual grade techniques, in addition to the accurate capture of geological, geochemical and geotechnical data. While ensuring all production targets are met, the mine geologist should continually pursue opportunities to optimise the mining process and refine departmental procedures. The training and management of underground geotechnical staff is also essential to the success of personnel in this role.

Qualifications

· BSc (Honours); BASc. (Honours)

· A recognised first aid certificate is desirable

Experience

· 2-3 years relevant mine geology experience, in an underground environment

· Gold and Copper experience

· Prior supervisory experience or proven leadership skills

Skills

· Exposure to mine and ore body modelling, planning and production tracking software

· Exposure to the mine planning process

· EOM report generation

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

· Timely and accurate provision of geological, grade control and geotechnical data, from both production and development sources.

· Identification of geological aspects affecting production while establishing daily plans to address any shortfalls and ensure targets are achieved.

· Assist with the tracking and management of all stockpiles to ensure sufficient concentrator feed.

· Active pursuit of opportunities to optimize the mine production profile.

· Aid in the completion of production reviews.
