CA Global: Power and Energy (International Positions) has a client that is in need of a Power Plant Operations Manager (Power Plant / Power Station). The position is based in New Caledonia.
Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced individual who will head up their Operations Department for the Coal-Fired Power Plant located in New Caledonia. The position will require relocation for the duration of the contract.
Job Requirements
- Diploma in heat engineering or confirmed equivalent.
- A minimum of 10 years successful experience in operations at a coal-fired power plant.
- Proven knowledge of the regulations concerning pressure equipment and calculation methods.
- Knowledge of technical English and ability to at least follow a conversation.
- Fluency in French is essential
- Teaching / training experience would be a significant advantage.
- A good knowledge of quality organisation according to ISO 9000 version 2000.
- The successful candidate will be required to start as soon as possible.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Engineering and Construction phases,
• To trace these sequences on quality plans and ensure that they are approved by the installer(s) or the officer(s) in charge of commissioning.
• To act as technical referrer for validating operating procedures.
• To be the main contact person for the operations manager appointed by the O&M contract holder at the power station.
• To be the main contact person for "regulations” and in this capacity to collect all data and information needed for files concerning "materials subject to regulation".
• To ensure pressure equipment workers have an adequate level of competence by making visits on the ground.
Commissioning phase
• To approve operating procedures on the ground during commissioning exercises.
Equipment subject to regulation
• To facilitate training sessions for local people in the areas of regulatory controls and welding.
Operating phase
To monitor operating teams, identify any discrepancies in operating procedures and ensure that these are addressed.
• To assist with production planning.
