CA Global: Engineering and Construction (Africa Positions) has a client that is in need of a Control and Instrumentation / C&I Engineer (Mining / Mineral Processing / Chemical). The position will be based in South Africa with Regular Travel.
Overview:
Control and Instrumentation Engineer will research, identify, design, install, purchase, develop, test and maintain instrumentation, electronics and computer control systems within the process industry. Oversee and ensure accuracy of C&I design documentation inclusive of compliance with customer/company quality and regularity specifications.
Requirements:
- B Sc (Electrical & Light Current) or HND/National Diploma Eng. (T3/T4)
- CORE / GEMERIC Registered
- Eligible Pr. Eng. (ECSA)
- Proficient in Computer Engineering Software (Pysis, InTools, Rebis instrumentation or similar)
- Industry experience in similar position.
- Working experience (design, installation and commissioning)
- A broad knowledge of Instrumentation and Control Design practices and standards.
- Detailed knowledge of the specification, selection, design, assembly, testing, and installation and commissioning of at least two of the following: DCS, ESD, Mechanical Package Unit Control Systems- PLC based, or SCADA Systems.
- Minimum of (5) five years related experience in a similar role with exposure to a mining / mineral processing and handling plant / Petroleum / Chemical plant, EPCM environment.
- PLC / DCS specification and architecture plus FAT / SAT experience, profibus instrumentation topology and field profibus cable systems design, intelligent MV / LV control and interface, sound knowledge of ISO systems and standards.
- Knowledge of aspects of a process using various systems such as: distributed control systems (DCSs) - to monitor process variables in measuring devices, such as flow meters, pulse output pumps and control valves; programmable logic controllers (PLCs) - to track mechanical handling devices; Systems, such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), are also used to measure and record the process and provide essential data for maintenance planning and management decision-making.
· Interpersonal Relations: Showing understanding and politeness to others, developing and maintaining relationships with others, being able to deal with individuals who are difficult and relating well to people from varied backgrounds.
· Occupational Health and Safety: Implementing safety standards in order to minimize the likelihood of accident or damage to people and equipment.
· Organizing: Initiating, assigning and confirming arrangements required for events or activities in a orderly and systematic manner
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for overseeing the whole field of work across the design and specification of the SCADA systems through construction and systems integration to the final commissioning and on-going operational management of a range of wind and wave energy projects locally and internationally. Plans and co-ordinates the technical design and engineering implementation of project work.
