Mine Superintendent
My client is looking to recruit a Mine Superintendent at their open-pit diamond mine in
Responsibilities
· Ensure SHE Compliance, participate and contribute to SHE meetings and events
· Ensure safe site declarations, tool box talks daily
· Ensure SHE standards are applied and adhered to
· Complete site inspections and ensure similar inspections
· Ensure SHE programmes are implemented and adhered to by production staff and contractors
· Implement and Meet Mine Plan
· Participate in and contribute to weekly mine planning meetings to inform pit planning needs and priorities (e.g. optimisation of production circuits)
· Participate in and contribute to daily production meetings to discuss previous day’s activities, what current priorities and needs are, and relevant incident reporting up the line
· Roll out sequence of production and related activities so that mine plan is achieved
· Anticipate production problems and constraints, apply discretion to resolve using sound mining principles and techniques, and refer to line manager or relevant structures outside of decision-making ambit
· Review achievement or otherwise of daily, monthly, annual progressives and deploy resources accordingly to meet under
· Ensure Optimum Equipment Utilisation
· Ensure correct allocation of haulage equipment to correct loading machine
· Ensure haul road is kept in prime condition to optimise circuit times
· Communicate
· Manage and Monitor People/Contractors
· Coordinate and/or influence line and contractor resources through instruction, guidance and influence
· Prioritise activities and follow-up/monitor accordingly
· Ensure appropriate performance management of line resources and contractors through performance management or monitoring in terms of service level agreements/contracts
· Ensure high levels of honesty and ethics are maintained by line resources and contractors in the processing and recovery of product
· Ensure competency and individual development is achieved so that staff resources effectively perform to required process standards and quality assurance, and business goals in this regard are achieved
· Interdepartmental/Contractor Project Support
· Divert production equipment and/or materials to meet non-production project needs and requirements

Requirements
·
· Relevant Diploma in Mining Engineering; Relevant Blasting Certificate
· Light Driver’s Licence
· 5 Years relevant mining/blasting experience in an operations environment
