Exploration Manager – Near mine - Brownfields
West Africa
Our client is currently seeking an exploration manager for West Africa who will lead and manage the near mine exploration activities at the mine and conduct timely evaluation of existing resources and targets combined with identification of new targets along the mine trend resulting in the delineation of new mining reserves.
Responsibilities:
• Determination of near mine exploration strategy budgets and programs to identify and grow resources that will expand the reserve base and meet the company’s strategic business plan.
• Leading and managing a large multi-cultural geological team, as well as training and mentoring of national geologists.
• Ranking and prioritizing reserve drilling delineates ore to meet the production requirements.
• Participation, when required, in Exploration and Technical Services initiatives including work planning, reserve-resource updates, developing strategic business plans.
• Executing work programs that meet health, safety and environmental best practices.
· Writing and presentation reports on work budgets, work plans and results
Requirements:
• 10-15 years with experience managing multi-drill rig exploration programs (preferably brownfields).
• Understanding of Archaen greenstone gold deposits and working with multiple data sets to identify new targets.
• Multi-lingual (French/English/Arabic) would be an advantage.
• Ability to understand and interpret resource block model estimations and identify quality projects from large amounts of data.
• Database management skills, understanding of QAQC protocols and procedures that meet industry standards.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills combined with being safety oriented and culturally sensitive in remote camps.
• Computer literate and competency with GIS plus resource modeling software
