Legal Advisor (East/Central Africa)

My client is looking for a Legal Advisor for their project in Malawi.
Responsibilities
•Support Institutional Relations activities, by preparing and implementing and action plan leading to strengthen relations between Malawi Government institutions, and new railway line linking Malawi and Moatize in Mozambique;
•Develop relations with various institutions in Malawi defending company brand and aiming at making viable various activities in Malawi;
•Identify and develop relations and cooperate with International agencies and non Governmental agencies acting in Malawi, to promote company’s activities in Malawi;
•Develop and implement corporate governance processes in Malawi including: social, institutional, environment and communications
•To proactively establish relations with Major private sector business associations, private companies to support and facilitate linkage along their value chain in Malawi;
•Provide legal support and advise to the their operations in Malawi
•Lobby public/private institutions in order to allow project development, implementation and operations of the railway system in trough Malawi territory;
•Contribute to identify business opportunities to uplift operations in Malawi;
•Attend meetings and conferences associated with activities in Malawi;
•Contribute to writing summaries of political and economic environment in Malawi
•Support company’s activities in Malawi by resolving and removing bottlenecks and administrative barriers
Requirements
University degree, ideally with a legal /commercial / socio political background
Experience:
•Good understanding of Public Relation function and corporate social responsibility themes;
•Result oriented team player with ability to meet milestones;
•Effective presentation and influencing skills
•Capable of building effective and long term relationships
•Computer literacy with stron power point skills
•Flexibility and willingness to travel
Skills required:
· English – fluent
· Portuguese – fluent
