Environmental Superintendent

This position will take full responsibility for all environmental issues related to my clients mining operations including but not limited to EMP’s, EIA’s, Audits and PPP.

The role:

· Play a lead role in obtaining statutory environmental approvals through preparation and management of documentation

· Participate in the development, regular review and update of the Environmental Management Plan

· Development of Environmental monitoring systems, in conjunction with an environmental consultant. Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs.

· Track compliance with environmental commitments

· Identify environmental risks and develop practical mitigation measures

· Prepare hazardous waste manifests and land disposal restriction notifications.

· Conduct environmental investigations into environmental incidents

· Conduct environmental compliance audits and investigations aimed at ensuring all company personnel comply with environmental requirements

· Promote continuous improvement of environment/sustainability performance

· Provide advice, support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to manage their environmental responsibilities by developing and delivering suitable environmental training for all staff.

· Mentor the development of environmental officers

· Represent the company in environmental meetings, workshops and seminars

· Assist raising environmental awareness amongst the local communities

· Liaise with external agencies. Prepares governmental reports and participates in representation with outside agencies. Maintains a working knowledge of current regulations.

Requirements:

· Minimum 7 years practical environmental management experience within a mining operation

· Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related discipline

· Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

· Demonstrable knowledge of environmental systems and methodologies

· Preferably some exposure to project construction sites
