MINERALOGIST
Southern Africa
Our client is currently seeking a Mineralogist for Southern Africa who will report to the Resident Geologist.
Responsibilities:
- Characterization of the different ore bodies in terms of their mineralogical characteristics, textures, mineral occurrences and optimum beneficiation
- Investigate geochemical trends and zonation within the mine
- Identify new minerals of economic and metallurgical interest.
- Microscopic evaluation of ore treated at the plant and optimization of metal recovery
- Development and maintenance of the mineral misplacement and mixing models
- Technical geological interpretations and reporting
- Assist with underground mapping and core logging
- Quality Assurance Quality Control (QAQC) within area of responsibility
- Project management
- Budgeting and cost control
- Maintain Health, Safety and Environment standards in compliance with the systems on the mine
Requirements & Experience:
- B.Sc. Geology and B.Sc. Honours in Geology or Mineralogy
- Must have a minimum of 3-5 yrs relevant experience in geology, mineralogy and beneficiation processes
- Experienced in base metal mineralogy and the beneficiation thereof
- Strong technical geological background
- MS Office Suite; SAP
- Conceptualization (spatial and abstract reasoning), Analytical thinking, Adaptability, willingness to learn and develop and Interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Valid Code 08 driver’s license
- Registered competent person (SACNASP affiliated or similar) will be an added advantage
- Additional technical geology or mineralogy qualifications will be an added advantage
