REGIONAL EXPLORATION GEOLOGIST
Southern Africa
Our client is currently seeking a REGIONAL EXPLORATION GEOLOGIST for Southern Africa who will report to the Senior Regional Exploration Geologist
Responsibilities:
- Scheduling and execution of regional exploration activities, including drilling, field mapping, core logging and sampling
- Database management and modelling of results in GIS (ArcMap)
- Technical geological interpretations and reporting
- Quality Assurance Quality Control (QAQC) within area of responsibility
- Assist with mineralogical, geophysical and geochemical investigations.
- Assist with exploration license administration, statutory reporting and ancillary rights
- Maintain Health, Safety and Environment standards in compliance with the systems on the mine
Requirements & Experience:
- B.Sc. Geology and B.Sc. Honours in Geology
- Must have a minimum of 3-5 yrs relevant base metal exploration experience
- Valid Code 08 driver’s license
- Strong technical geological background, e.g. in terms of structural geology, mapping and geological interpretations
- Knowledge of 3D geological modelling software and geo-statistical evaluation (preferably in MineSight) and geological database management (preferably in Acquire).
- MS Office Suite; SAP
- Conceptualization (spatial and abstract reasoning), analytical thinking, adaptability, willingness to learn and develop and Interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Registered competent person (SACNASP affiliated or similar) will be an added advantage
- M.Sc in Geology or other technical geology qualifications will be an added advantage
- Managerial experience will be of benefit
- Good health (fieldwork will required a high level of physical fitness)
