Country Exploration Manager- West Africa
Our client is currently seeking a Country Exploration Manager for a project in West Africa, to identify and develop business opportunities by means of exploration, operational support, and acquisitions.
Responsibilities:
- Sets strategy, objectives and budgets regarding grassroots exploration in
consultation with the SVP, Exploration, Regional Exploration Manager and General
Managers
- To act as the primary point of communication for the country exploration office.
- Provide senior leadership and managerial support to the Exploration team.
- Maintain a cooperative interest in the health and safety of yourself, your fellow
workers and local communities
- Ensures projects in the unit or area are completed on-time, on-budget, and to
required standards, involving support or technical activities of a group of managers or
professionals
- Provides general direction to staff with an emphasis on the execution of plans and
delivery of services
Requirements:
- A university degree in Geology, preferably a post graduate degree
- Minimum of 10-12 years’ experience in an exploration/mining environment
- Extensive technical experience and expertise in gold deposits and their exploration
methodology
- Knowledgeable on agreement structures and terms
- Good negotiation and deal making skills
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills
- Creative and innovative financial acumen
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication
- Ability to communicate complex problems clearly – both written and orally
- Good presentation skills
- Multi-cultural awareness
- Previous Africa experience
