Senior Exploration Geologist – Base Metals – Gauteng
A client is urgently seeking a Senior Exploration Geologist
Responsibilities:
- Target generation, designing, managing and executing exploration programs and ensuring a high success rate for the exploration programmes based in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi
- Travelling to the abovementioned countries to execute exploration projects
Key Perfomance Areas:
Geological supervision and support at current operations.
- Provide geological input into technical committees.
- Review and transfer geological data from the operations into technical and annual reports.
- Ensure best practice followed at operations – review of SOPs and audits.
- Advise on both greenfields and brownfields opportunities
Exploration project management
- Devise and implement exploration strategy at exploration projects.
- Manage all aspects of budgeting and administration of projects.
- Ensure best practices followed at projects – Qa/Qc, SOPs and audits.
New business development (target generation and selection, due diligence)
- Actively identify and pursue new opportunities in exploration projects in the region in line with the strategic objectives of the company.
- Maintain a good relationship and good corporate image with peers in the industry.
- Be part of multi-disciplinary teams involved in due diligence studies of projects/business opportunities in the region.
Requirements:
- BSc (Hons) Geology.
- At least 5-8 years exploration geology experience in multi-commodities with the focus on green field operation.
- Good managerial and technical skills.
- An analytical thinker with 3-D Vision Skills as well as excellent data and numeral analysis skills. General knowledge of Exploration Methodologies and Techniques.
- Knowledge of mine safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office and relevant geological mining systems such as: ArcGis, SABLE, Oasis Mantaj, ERMapper and Datamine or industry equivalents.
