Head: Flotation – Mineral Processing - Gauteng
A South African leading mineral processing company has an exciting opportunity for a Head: Flotation within their Minerals Processing Division based in Gauteng
Responsibilities:
- Handle the line management responsibilities for the Group.
- Manage all interactions with the Group’s consultants, clients and service providers
- Contribute in marketing the Group’s services and make sure that client needs are understood correctly and that appropriate test programmes are developed
- Lead and or participate in research and development projects aimed at the strategic positioning of the Group for future growth.
- Ensure that QES procedures are strictly adhered to and that project work is executed with maximum overall technical efficiency
- Ensure that commercial and science vote income targets are achieved and that the Flotation Group operates at a profit. Develop annual business plans for the Flotation Group
- Attain Group’s approximate revenue target of R20 million
- Oversee the commissioning of pilot-plants and small commercial plants.
- Keep up to date at a national professional level with technology and business developments that are relevant to the division’s interests
- Interactions with clients and technical expertise are required at a nationally competitive level when managing technical work in major projects
- Render professional consulting services to clients
- implement and develop a strategy to grow the Group’s business in the local, regional and international markets.
- Provide technical input and guidance in the execution of projects at a specialist level by ensuring that execution of projects is done on-time and within budget
- Develop and execute appropriate research programs (funded by the science vote) aimed at strengthening and expanding the technical abilities of the Flotation group
- Training program development junior staff training, motivate and guide Group staff.
- Assist and supervise staff where necessary
- Produce professional reports, papers and presentations at local and international conferences.
- Contribute in the development of long-term business strategies for the Group. Identify prospects for technology development and commercialization
Requirements:
- A Chemical or Metallurgical degree or equivalent and MSc or PhD will be advantageous
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Flotation, with at least 2 to 3 years in management
- Laboratory scale test work, technology evaluation, plant auditing, modelling and simulation of Flotation circuits, flow sheet development and client interaction experience will be highly desirable
- Great business development and management skills are a necessity
- Knowledgeable on legislation covering the workplace
