Metallurgy Manager

Our client is currently seeking the services of an experienced Metallurgy Manager for a copper/cobalt project in Africa to plan, organize, manage and monitor all the beneficiation, analytical and stockage activities essential to the efficient and profitable concentration and collection of cobalt and copper oxide mineralization.
Responsibilities:
§ Will develop and implement short to medium term processing schedules to achieve or exceed the agreed budget.
§ Will audit processing practices including safety, environmental, grade control, etc
§ Will constantly review the cost and profitability of current processing methodology and recommend more cost effective techniques where appropriate.
§ Will plan and manage plant shutdowns to maximize time available for plant maintenance whilst ensuring minimal production losses.
§ Will ensure that the tailings disposal system is adequate and adheres to nationally accepted standards.
§ Will manage the activities of site analytical laboratory in order to ensure production grades are maintained at budgeted levels.
§ Will oversee the analysis of operational data and information and advise more senior management of daily/monthly activity.
Requirements:
· A BSc degree in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering or a Higher National Diploma in
Extractive Metallurgy or equivalent.
· Minimum of eight (8) years working in metallurgical and mineral processing operations
· Previous experience with copper and cobalt
· Operational and management experience of running crushing, washing and HM
concentration plants in remote locations.
· Detailed knowledge of modern extractive technology.
· Ability to achieve the continuous improvement of processing operations thus
increasing production, reducing risk and reducing costs whilst providing a mentorship
role to the national staff.
· The ability to provide technical input to project evaluations such as capital expenditure
proposals and /or plant/process modifications.
· A demonstrated ability to manage an environmentally acceptable tailings disposal
system.
· Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. The ability to
speak French or Swahili an advantage.
