CA Global: Transport and Logistics (Africa / International Positions) has a client that is in need of a Procurement Specialist (Technical / Equipment and Supplies / Project Management / Construction / CPP/ Bid Tenders). The position will be based in Ethiopia.
(1) Position available for the advert post. Qualified candidate needs to have extensive East and South African experience. Six month renewable contact, with 4 weeks off rotation roster.
Duties:
§ Receives, examine and processes requisitions; preparing bid specifications and other necessary documents related to the purchase of supplies, materials and equipment;
§ Prepares local/Government requisition or locate sources of supply, and place orders with appropriate bidder(s).
- Compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of supplies, materials and equipment.
§ Interviews and corresponds with vendors; keeps informed of new products and market conditions and trends.
§ Confers with and assists officials of all departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications.
- Maintains records on purchase price information on both open market and contract purchases and revises these as conditions changes; obtains quotations on open market purchases.
- Analyzes purchasing trends to determine if an agency contract or statewide contract would benefit the University.
- Assists in the supervision and training of less experienced buying personnel. You’ll generally be responsible for the supervision of one procurement assistant.
- Perform related work as required.
Requirements:
- B.A. / Purchasing Certification
- 2-3 years buying environment is required
- African remote camp experience essential
§ Knowledge of basic computer operation
Skills aptitude:
- Considerable knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures and of the techniques of specification writing.
- Considerable knowledge of a variety of office, technical, and maintenance supplies and materials, the best sources, and appropriate prices for the procurement of such goods.
- Considerable knowledge of methods of analyzing supplies and materials.
- Some knowledge of the application of bookkeeping principles and methods of the keeping of procurement records.
- Ability to supervise the work of others in the performance of routine purchasing office duties.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with necessary officials and vendors.
