Chief Geologist – Bauxite- West Africa

Our client is currently looking for a Chief Geologist who will be responsible for all exploration projects from grass roots level to feasibility stages and for eventual mine geology including grade control, resource estimation, mapping, reconciliation and resource development drilling.
Responsibilities:
- Execution of all activities in line with the company’s HSEC policies and procedures
- Technical budget and forecast for the operation
- Performance assessments and development programs for all technical staff
- Oversee production geology at an operating open pit mine
- Reserve and resource updating and validation, including near mine exploration
- Asses the viability of new projects from grass roots level to operating mines
- Design, implementation and monitoring of relevant QA/QC procedures
- Manages and share technical data in clear and concise way
- Accountable for routine technical government and internal reporting
Requirements:
- Bsc. Hons. Geology
- 10 years experience in mineral exploration or mining environment with at least 3 years in a resource management role in a mining environment
- Previous experience with management of large and complex geological programs
- Previous experience with managing a diverse team
- Good French and English language skills and excellent English writing skills
- Bauxite is preferred but any open cast mine environment would be good enough
- IT Skills in Microsoft Office including Access, drilling and geochemical databases, geological modeling and grade control software
