Our client is currently seeking a General Manager/Head of Geology for their operations in Southern Africa.
The purpose of the role is to establish and run effectively the production and development geology functions on producing fields and work closely with the other functional areas to maintain production and seek opportunities for growth through generation
Responsibilities:
- Project management, exploration (grassroots to in-mine), geosciences R&D, base metals, geometallurgy and exploration risk
- Develop geology and reservoir modeling for field development/redevelopment
- Geological database management
- Compiling business plans, managing drilling contractors and managing costs
- Managing the geology department (greenfield & brownfield exploration), as well as resource evaluation sections and production geology
Requirements:
- BSc. (Hons) degree in geology
- 10 years’ experience in a geologist role
- Must have gold experience and a strong back ground in Greenstone Exploration
- Proficiency in operating mining software
