18 month contract with a strong possibility going permanent.
Company's Life and Health Products division in Cape Town is responsible for the development
and profitability of our various product lines in Africa. This 18-month contract offers an actuarial
student the opportunity to join and contribute to a market leading team.
Our functions
We support new business delivery through:
Developing, costing and designing new products
Reviewing large or unusual transactions
Building pricing models and tools
Conducting market surveys
We also provide rigorous risk analysis through:
Conducting experience studies that provide input into both pricing and valuation bases
Monitoring profitability by product line and contributing to global projects
Your duties
Duties depend on your skills, experience and qualifications. You will be required to:
Provide expert actuarial input, support or advice on a range of projects and initiatives,
including experience studies, modelling and pricing
Build and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of market products and trends
Support new business delivery
Your attributes
Excellent analytical, problem solving and independent decision making abilities
Self motivator with ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple priorities
Sound technical actuarial skills, attention to detail
Assertive and confident team-player with excellent communication skills
Advanced Visual Basic for Excel skills, knowledge of Glean / DCS, SAS or R an advantage
Your qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science
Part-qualified Actuary with minimum of 6 exemptions (junior and senior students will be
considered)
