CA Global: Power and Energy (International Positions) have a client that is in need of a Project Director (Wind Construction Project). The position is based in South Africa.
OVERVIEW
Manage all commercial and technical aspects for the execution and oversight of an (EPC) contract for a 140MW wind project on behalf of the Owner. The role will require an individual capable of thoroughly understanding and managing all commercial aspects as well as the complete oversight of the Company’s construction oversight team members
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum BS/MS degree or substantial equivalent technical training and prior extensive experience in project and site management.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
- Extensive direct experience in the construction of power projects; with an emphasis on project execution (construction & completion)
- Significant experience with successful power project construction, wind power projects that utilize large turbines (>1.5MW)
- Significant “construction site” management experience on international projects in emerging markets
- Previous responsibility as the lead manager for the Owner or EPC Contractor in the execution of EPC Contract
- Broad background of previous exposure to various disciplines, civil, electrical, mechanical on construction projects and accumulated knowledge base of construction methods used in these disciplines.
- Direct and critical involvement in the construction execution of EPC projects in order to achieve commercial operations,
- Extensive knowledge and familiarity with EPC contract terms and conditions, interrelationships of risks with respect to Company vs. Client risks and participation in the negotiation, management and handover of power projects,
- Direct experience in the management of EPC Contractors, Subcontractors and Owner’s Construction Management,
- Direct experience in establishing, monitoring and managing project construction budgets,
- Working knowledge of and experience in development, managing and analyzing project schedules, including use of Microsoft Project or similar CPM scheduling software,
- Very strong commitment and dedication to safety at the workplace through the implementation of Safety Plans and strict enforcement of standard safety practices and philosophies

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Act as the commercial leader of the project with overall responsibility for delivery of the project from financial close to commercial operation within budget and schedule.
- Assume the role of “Owner’s Representative” per EPC contract definition and act as the high level liaison with Owner’s home office and EPC contractor to ensure successful implementation and completion of the project.
- Primary liaison to project lenders and project shareholders.
- Manage all EPC contract variation orders and claims with support from the Owner’s Construction Site Manager and the site team.
- Approve purchase orders, purchase requisitions and contracts in line with authorized signing authorities
- Ensure enforcement of site Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
- Manage compliance with all project insurance policies
