CA Global: Power and Energy (International Positions) have a client that is in need of a Construction Site Manager (Wind Construction Project). The position is based in South Africa.
OVERVIEW
To manage construction of a 140MW wind project on behalf of the Owner
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum BS/MS degree or substantial equivalent technical training and prior extensive experience in project and site management.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
- Extensive direct experience in the construction of power projects; with an emphasis on project execution (construction & completion)
- Significant experience with successful power project construction, wind power projects that utilize large turbines (>1.5MW)
- Significant “construction site” management experience on international projects in emerging markets
- Broad background of previous exposure to various disciplines, civil, electrical, mechanical on construction projects and accumulated knowledge base of construction methods used in these disciplines.
- Direct and critical involvement in the construction execution of EPC projects in order to achieve commercial operations,
- Extensive knowledge and familiarity with EPC contract terms and conditions, interrelationships of risks with respect to Owner vs. Contractor risks and participation in the negotiation of EPC contracts,
- Knowledge and familiarity with the critical aspects of major project agreements such as Power Purchase, Fuel Supply and related project agreements and their interrelationships to each other and EPC agreements,
- Direct experience in the management of EPC Contractors, Subcontractors and
- Owner’s Construction Management
- Direct experience in establishing, monitoring and managing project construction budgets,
- Working knowledge of and experience in development, managing and analyzing project schedules, including use of Microsoft Project or similar CPM scheduling software,
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Overall management of Owner’s responsibilities and EPC contractor supervision
- during construction in order to ensure compliance with contract requirements;
- Act as the general administrator of all the Owner’s on-site activities, including the
- management of Owner’s site facilities, staff and resources including the Owner’s
- Engineer staff;
- Co-ordination of the review and comment of detailed EPC contractor engineering
- drawings, specifications and document submittals;
- Detailed analysis of the EPC contractors construction schedule and monthly report;
- Understanding and supervision of contracts and budgetary management, cost
- control, change order approvals;
- Verification of EPC contractor milestone payment requests;
- Lead the hiring of Owner’s field staff, as required, to ensure adequate resources are
- in place for effective and timely execution of projects;
