What industry do you work in and what exactly are your skills?
I work within the manufacturing industry as a planning & logistics officer, my skills include Strategic Planning, Data Analysis, Forecasting, Inventory control, planned distribution, warehousing.
What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?
I was inspired to join this field due its dynamism and challenges and a desire to continually improve my skills.
What qualifications and experience did you have to gain In order to establish yourself and therefore become a professional within your industry?
To establish myself in this industry I had to be qualified in data analysis, be a quick thinker, be an effective planner, have expansive knowledge of IT, be a problem solver, have strong interpersonal skills, and be a team player.
What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?
The most challenging aspect this far has been to precisely identify the changing market needs in order to have a precise forecast that will meet all of our customer’s needs.
How do you manage and overcome these challenges?
To overcome challenges as such, we have involved on a deeper lever the sales team who now take part in the making of the forecast.
What has been the highlight of your career?
My career highlight was last year when I won the Company Chairman’s Award due to my diligence and hard work.
If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary?
An estimated salary of a beginner in this field is Ksh 30000.
What can this person expect to earn after 10 years of experience?
After 10 years’ experience one can expect to earn about Ksh 150000.
Who is your role model and why?
My role models are my parents, because out of a humble background they have established a successful ranch which benefits so many families and has transformed the life’s of many.
What motivates you to work this hard?
I’m motivated by the desire to improve my life and be a resourceful person to others.
What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?
I’m of the opinion that this industry will grow tremendously due to the thriving economy especially the construction sector which my company targets.
As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?
I think Kenya will be the next hot spot, due to the recent discovery of oil in Turkana.
