Seeking Mining General Manager for operations in South Africa
One of our clients is currently seeking a General Mining Manager to optimise the profit contribution from the business to the larger group by managing staff and operations, and by establishing and accomplishing aligned business objectives.
Responsibilities for the General Mining Manager role:
As the Mining General Manager you will be responsible for the overall oversight of the business. You will also be accountable for the increases concerned with management’s effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orientating, training, coaching, counselling and disciplining managers. Other responsibilities include:
planning, monitoring and appraising job results
developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational and development opportunities
This role involves setting up the company goals and implementing strategies. Accomplishing subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets and results measurements; allocating resources, reviewing progress and making mid-course adjustments is an important aspect for this job.
You are also responsible for the building of the company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organisations and employees; enforces ethical business practices.
Requirements for the Mining General Manager role:
It is an important requirement for this role to have a mining engineering qualification, Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competence, MBA desirable.
You absolutely need 12 to 15 years in underground, hard-rock mining, of which at least 4 have been at a senior management decision-making level for organisations of at least similar magnitude. Due to the imminent replacement of ore body with that of the adjacent Mine, currently in project phase, and the massive mining method that will be deployed in that mine, the GM will need to possess a reasonable level of massive mining (block/sub-level caving) experience.
