Job Description:

Our client is a in the Development Finance space is seeking an Investment Analyst with Natural resources transaction experience. The ideal candidate will be expected to play a key role in the development and management of the company’s Natural Resources activities. The key areas of responsibilities are: market & client research, credit and investment analysis, technical writing, due diligence, investment approval documentation and business performance tracking and reporting.

 

Responsibilities:

• Financial Modelling
• Conduct financial analysis and risk assessment on project proposals, including developing and interpreting financial models.
• Investment Execution Support
• Assist with the preparation of transactions documents such as engagement letters, proposals, presentations, Credit and Investment Memoranda, financial and valuation analysis reports, etc for AFC’s investment considerations (debt, equity, etc).
• Participate in deal meetings as well as help maintain client relationships as required.
• Assist in administering the investment processes associated with deals e.g procurement of consultants, coordination across internal departments, processing disbursement requests etc.
• Provide any additional support to the Natural Resources team as required.
• Deal Origination Support
• Pitchbook Preparation
• Assist with the development of presentations and proposals for debt/equity transactions.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

 

• A first degree in analytics based field e.g Finance, economics, accounting, engineering, mathematics, physics etc. from an accredited university and relevant Masters degree
• 4 years of work experience with at least 3 years of experience in direct investing, lending or financial advisory functions
• Ability to conduct analysis of financial projections and impact of financing variables through the preparation of financial models
• Basic credit and investment review capacity.
• Market knowledge of the Natural Resources sector in Africa generally, and the infrastructure segment specifically, with basic knowledge of the key markets, sponsors and competitors.
• Strong research skills, with a clear capacity to develop research material using publicly available information, and by leveraging various networks and internal resources available.
• Ability to respond to issues associated with project finance, corporate loans, equity investments and other investment considerations
• Experience in the preparation of presentations of financial materials
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of financial tools for tracking projects
• Knowledge of financial products, including: project and structured debt, private equity, mezzanine, treasury, capital markets, guarantees and project development
