Job Description:

Our client is in need of a Project Superintendent to oversee capital infrastructure construction projects for the smelter and flotation circuit on site at their project in the DRC.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the construction of capital infrastructure projects including the smelter and flotation circuit, including the design, engineering, procurement, construction and logistics.
• Managing the execution of the project within agreed timelines, cost, specifications and safety standards, including project infrastructure, earthworks, piling, roads, drainage, sewerage etc.
• Managing the project area scope from concept to commissioning and handover.
• Overseeing EPCM contractors, consultants, suppliers and other contractors on the project.
• Establishing and managing design reviews.
• Focusing on problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Budgeting and cost control.
• Stakeholder engagement and management, promoting a positive working environment and collaborative culture.
• Mentoring and training of subordinates.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
• Project Management Diploma or PMP Certification advantageous.
• Professional registration advantageous.
• 10 years project management experience within mining including a minimum of 5 years managing the full cycle of capital infrastructure projects for smelting, slag processing and flotation from design to commissioning and hand over.
• Experience managing EPCM and other project contractors.
• Computer literate.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Previous experience mentoring and training multicultural teams in Africa.
