Contract Engineering Manager (Expat / Commercial / Underground / Mining / Contractor) –Botswana

Job Description:

Our client is a leading multinational mining contractor. The candidate will drive positive commercial outcomes and contractual compliance, QA/QC compliance through contract management and supporting processes to ensure the client maximises the profitability of its commercial arrangements in line with its values.

The position will be a site based rotational role in Botswana reporting directly to the Operations Manager with a functional report to the Commercial Manager - Africa and North America

Responsibilities:

• Obtain an intimate understanding of the Project, its operations, and contract
• Support site management (Operations Manager and Project Managers) to achieve the project requirements
• Be the central cog between Operations, Project Controls / Engineering and Commercial team to co-ordinate the collection of data and appropriate reporting to measure, build up and defend monthly progress claims including providing substantiation of relevant documentation
• Identify events, prepare and submit Notices (with estimates) under the Contract including work Project Controls, Estimating and Finance to prepare and submit formal Variation and Extension of Time claims to client.
• Respond to client notices and directions and manage client expectations regarding Events and general day to day site operations.
• Review existing and/or develop systems and processes required to support the administration of the Contract, Commercial Outcomes and provide clarity to various site stakeholders to exceed project KPIs.
• Collaborate with Operations and Project team to identify efficiencies, productivity gains and commercial opportunities to improve the performance and profitability.
• Develop a support team to support the functions of your Contracts Engineering Manager role including mentor this team to develop a strong, culturally aligned Commercial Division within the greater site team.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Primarily Engineering, or strong technical site based Commercial or Quantity Surveying Qualifications with a minimum 5-year site base mining and experience a must (preferably underground)
• Demonstrated understanding of the underground mining cycle and associated challenges
• Valid Driver’s License (Code B)
