Job Description:
To ensure implementation and monitoring of the company’s energy initiatives, standards and the energy recovery projects, in line with company strategy and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox
- Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
- Liaise and consult with Business Units
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction
- Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
- Ensure customer and supplier satisfaction
- Monthly contact sessions with plant electrical personnel
- Failure investigations and specialist inputs in electrical incidents
- Develop asset care strategies for all critical electrical equipment with
- Ensure SOP’s, training and standards comply with relevant legislation (Mine Health and Safety Act, Operational Health and Safety Act, etc.) and ensure that standards are update when changes are communicated
- Provide information, advice and training regarding legislation that may have an impact on electrical installation, use and maintenance
- Represent in industry energy forums as will be defined
- Represent corporate body in HV focus group
- Support the energy recovery and base load generation projects.
- Support and guide all electrical installation work on other major projects
- Ensure that electrical standards are implemented on projects
- Commissioning support and guidance for major projects
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual Energy Reports
- Report on projects as per project management requirement
- Business Unit Training Identification
- Identify training needs of personnel in plant and train especially in use of metering and controlling of Eskom billing
- Monitor and Eskom invoicing and train plant personnel to control cost
- Control project costs as per budget process and proper project management
- Prepare and plan for Departmental Budgets
- Annual audits on electrical systems with regards to protection, transformers etc…
- Research new electrical technologies
- Benchmark electrical technologies and standardize Best Practices across all Business Units
- Implement and monitor Energy Efficiency initiatives
- Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Good understanding of relevant legislation, working knowledge of Eskom systems and project management knowledge
- Electrical Engineering Degree or National Diploma
- 6 years’ relevant experience, preferably 2 years’ managerial experience
- Certified Energy Manager
