Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to diagnose and maintain machinery and equipment according to technical specification and sound engineering practice and faultfinding on and maintenance of sophisticated field instrumentation to ensure minimum downtime of equipment according to procedures and policies.

Responsibilities:

• Do planned maintenance on instrumentation related equipment
• Do scheduled maintenance on instrumentation equipment
• Attend to instrumentation related breakdowns
• Upgrading and changing existing instrumentation installations
• Preform new instrumentation installations
• Do after-hours standby/Callout
• Repair, maintain, calibrate, adjust, and install measuring and controlling instrumentation
• Ensure that all instrumentation within the plant is maintained updated and calibrate on a regular basis
• Adhere to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality standards (OHS Act compliance)
• Enhance labor relations
• Inter departmental collaboration
• Continuously monitor equipment failure and lability and production performance levels efficiency to improve trade specific equipment and systems
• Consult with production teams on maintenance activities that effect production
• Support the achievement of engineering availability and production performance levels
• Ensure that maintenance related information is recorded and reported to the relevant planning office to support the maintenance of the planned/assess maintenance system
• Be capable of doing Scada and PLC programming on equipment.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

 

• Min standard 10 (Grade 12) or N3 Electronics/Instrumentation and a Recognized Trade Test in Instrumentation, N6 will be preferable.
• Any other supplementary trade related training will be advantageous
• Valid section 13 Trade test certificate required
• Driver’s License
• Minimum of 5 years site experience in PLC’s and industrial instrumentation
• Training – Relevant training on industrial instrumentation and laboratory instrumentation
• Time management skills
