Job Description:
Our client, one of the world’s leading hard rock, underground mining services companies, is seeking an individual with depth and experience in the general supervision of teams in underground mining activities for operations in West Africa.
These teams will be working with an expansive fleet of mining equipment which, in a high-speed development, requires effective and comprehensive supervision from a competent mine foreman.
Responsibilities:
- Must always set high standards and always do processes the right way no matter the difficulty of task.
- Expected to present yourself and, by association, the company in a respectful and considerate manner that is aligned to company principles.
- Will be required to impart knowledge and skill onto local workforce that has a positive effect on local communities.
- Engage in cultural awareness activities and training to help with your interactions with the local employees and communities.
- Must be patient, understanding and behave as an appreciative guest in the country you are engaged for.
- Must be resilient and able to work through challenging situations.
- Ensure that staff perform project research, design calculations, and records accuracy of mining activities.
- Ensure that project/department milestones are met and the adhering to of approved budgets.
- Manage and support the daily performance of subordinate teams’ jobs,
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a highs-speed development, mechanized mine.
- WA Underground Supervisors’ certificate of competency or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of and experience with modern production techniques.
- Proven ability to plan and coordinate the activities of multiple teams and a large, modern fleet of mining equipment engaged in underground activities.
- Expat experience is ideal.
- Adherence to mining laws and safety regulations, and ability to issue directives to workers to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.
- Proven ability to review and consolidate records, such as safety reports and production records.
- Manage the Underground Shift Supervisors and provide direction and assistance with planning of mining activities in accordance with the Mines Act & relevant Safety and Environmental regulations.
- Proven ability to liaise with appropriate client contacts and ensure expectations are realistic and projected targets are achieved safely and to specifications.
- Previous experience acting as Relief /Alternate Site Manager during their absence, adhering to agreed schedules, programs and targets.
