Job Description:
The Mine Planning Officer will be responsible for drawing up and monitoring operational daily, Weekly Operational Planning (WOP) and projects of all mining activities. Delivery of weekly 2 Week plan within a set of approved parameters including mine design, which meets and exceed the STP (Short term plan) and business objectives, considering fleet availability, equipment application, ex-pit material destinations, operations constraints by operational sequencing of waste removal and ore extraction, to ensure continuity of production output and sustainability throughout the life of mine.
Responsibilities:
- Build, complete, own and present the responsible section of the weekly operational plan
- Collate the relevant operational, MRM inputs, verify the validity, accuracy and applicability of the information
- Conduct detailed block and access designs and scheduling for the week - & short-term plan
- Provide input for the relevant processes of planning reconciliation
- Frequently visit the areas of responsibility in the pit to ensure the plan is relevant, practical and consider the physical challenges in the field
- Adhere to pit boundaries/limits with guidance from the STP, MTP and the geotechnical engineers
- Translate planning into practical pit operations and influencing WOP practicality
- Track Mine to Plan compliance and ensure WOP compliance exceed 85% etc
- Ensure and improve the quality of the WOP planning and implementation.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- A BSc/BEng degree or a diploma in Mining Engineering or Mine Surveying or a similar mining qualification from a reputable institution will be advantageous.
- A Rock Breakers Certificate / Blasting Certificate will be advantageous.
- Proven mine design and planning track record and or certificates or proof of mine planning software competency.
- Minimum of 5 years in the mining industry of which a minimum of 3 years in the mine technical / planning (open pit) environment is considered essential.
- Experience with PC based mine planning packages (packages specializing in the short- term space) and Microsoft Office suite including MS Projects.
- Software knowledge & and application skill (Deswik) with is considered essential.
- Operational experience in either the open pit and or underground environment up to foreman level will be an advantage.
