Job Description:
Our client, a large multinational mining company, is seeking an experienced Principle Projects Safety whose purpose is to support a step change in business performance by developing the organization’s capability to manage risks and exploit opportunities in Safety. They will facilitate delivery of best-in-class safety management and performance at company capital growth projects, to minimize the risk of fatalities, serious injuries, and incidents while improving productivity.
Responsibilities:
Safety & Health –
- Exemplify a culture where safety and health is paramount and act as a role model by visibly leading by example and setting clear, consistent expectations, including consistent use of systems, symbols and behaviors aligned to Company values.
- Create culture to embrace feedback and be open to challenge unsafe behaviors.
- Ensure application of safety & health principles in all operational and non-operational interactions.
Performance & Delivery –
- Facilitate exchange and sharing of safety best practices, managements systems, and processes amongst Anglo American capital growth projects.
- Establish leading and lagging safety performance indicators and monitoring and reporting regiments for capital growth projects, analyze safety performance, and advise on performance improvement opportunities.
- Advise project managers on safety risks and opportunities during capital growth project toll-gate reviews.
- Facilitate, support, and verify implementation of safety improvements within and capital growth projects and operations globally.
Sustainability & Social –
- Improve sustainability performance of the AA safety organization over time. Initiate cross-functional integration on sustainability to manage relevant risks/impacts.
- Drive compliance with environmental and social requirements, including commitments to stakeholders.
- Establish processes to build relationships with key stakeholders. Engage with high-priority stakeholders to manage external facing risks and opportunities.
- Establish alignment of engagements with long-term Group sustainability initiatives.
Compliance –
- Establish compliance with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements. Selectively review implications of regulatory requests and engage where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with Anglo American requirements. Visibly live the values of and ensure compliance with Group (e.g., Technical, S&SD, Social Performance) standards, Group Human Rights policy and company Code of Conduct.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in Occupational Safety & Health, Statistical Analysis, Data Analytics or similar relevant technical discipline is required.
- A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in Occupational Safety & Health, Statistical Analysis, Data Analytics, or similar relevant technical discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity Is desirable.
- Expertise and proven track record developing and successfully implementing Safety Management Systems, performance monitoring and reporting systems, and/or data analytics.
- Track record of operational experience within a large global multi-commodity mining, manufacturing or related industry.
- Track record of acting as a company-wide coach, advisor and mentor in a technical discipline with change management expertise.
- Track record leading ideas generation, translation of these into practical initiatives with demonstrated success in operational performance monitoring and reporting in a global / regional context.
- Expertise and proven track record developing and successfully implementing Safety Management Systems, performance monitoring and reporting systems, and/or data analytics.
Benefits and Contractual information:
- Permanent contract.
- Domestic and regional and international travel will be required.
- Work on site at Mine operations may be required.
