Job Description:

Our client, an international mining company is looking to employ a Process Control Engineer. As a fully competent senior Process Control Engineer, they will be responsible for carrying out work requiring independent judgement with the capacity to lead team projects and assignments using technical problem-solving techniques, monitoring and analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Independently performs broad and deep Process Control work leading the contribution to achieve defined project deliverables.
• Liaises with all relevant stakeholders to effectively resolve Process Control issues using wide troubleshooting expertise.
• Represents the business with relevant external stakeholders to communicate and progress Process Control issues.
• Analyses benchmarking data and recommends changes that would improve plant and Process Control engineering performance.
• Proposes and validates design ideas to improve plant SHE performance, cost effectiveness, operability, and maintainability.
• Promotes a reliability-based approach to drive down equipment lifecycle costs and minimize breakdown maintenance in their area.
• Coordinates, develops, and reviews complex Process Control design work and engineering proposals. Provides coaching and guidance to junior engineers to support development of technical expertise within the company.
• Promotes high HSE standards and seeks to ensure a healthy, safe work environment and working practices at all times.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline, NQF Level 7 (Mandatory)
• B Eng. Hons NQF Level 8 (Recommended)
•  Driver’s License (Mandatory)
• 6 - 8 years’ Process Control experience / Plant exposure / Operating within a Heavy Industry environment (Mandatory)
• Computer Literacy (Mandatory)
• Skills: Analysis and Problem Solving; Critical Thinking and Decision Making; Data Gathering, Analysis & Reporting; Risk Management; Project Management; Statistical Analysis and Measurement; Process Control Engineering; Process Control Techniques; Distributed Control Systems/Emergency Shutdown Systems; Process Control System Security; Operations Support Services; Capital Process Management; Contingency and Disaster Recovery Management; Change Control in Operations; Process Safety Management.
