Job Description:
Our client is an international mining house who is seeking a Procurement Superintendent to develop, implement and maintain sourcing strategies for leverage commodities and group contracts for reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and driving operational excellence. The ideal incumbent will have experience working in procurement in the mining industry.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
- Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
- Manage performance against set targets and competencies
- Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
- Establish, implement and control standardised procurement processes
- Improve the Procurement to Payment process to ensure proactive procurement and the reduction of the total cost of procurement
- Achieve synergies and leverage opportunities across sites
- Conduct strategic vendor assessments
- Audit and report annually on procurement governance and ensure inclusion and alignment in site scorecards
- Manage SAP MM (master data and procurement) integration
- Determine customer requirements and research market, commodities and suitable suppliers
- Manage tender process
- Negotiate final terms and conditions in conjunction with internal Customers and external Suppliers
- Conduct Supplier site audits for compliance to Commercial and SHEQ requirements
- Identify, develop and implement opportunities to improve the group position in the marketplace
- Review existing arrangements to drive down TCO
- Develop, implement, source and mange Group Leverage Contracts
- Verify and compare Supplier contract price amendments according to market related indices
- Implement and manage Service Level agreements on strategic Leverage contracts
- Co-ordinate contract allocation between Procurement and Business units
- Manage non-performance of leverage contracts
- Implement and manage Service Level Agreements
- Analyse audit findings on contract process and implement corrective actions
- Train internal customers on the Procurement to Pay process
- Analyse spends on commodity categories and make recommendations for improvements
- Provide site with group wide monthly procurement reports
- Analyse Contract Metrics and Reports
- Assist Manager in preparation of budgets, cost and/or any other related reporting
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Degree in Financial Management, Law, Supply Chain Management, Commercial Management, Engineering Management
- At least 4 years’ experience in Procurement/commercial
- At least 2 years’ experience in mining environment
- At least 2 years’ managerial experience
