Job Description:

Our client, a global leader in innovative mining solutions and mining services, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand their footprint in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mining engineering, extensive experience in the explosives sector, and a deep understanding of the target markets in Africa.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement business development plans to grow market share in Southern and Central Africa and other key markets.
• Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and client relationships in mining and explosives sectors.
• Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competition to inform strategy.
• Work with operations, marketing, and finance teams to align and execute initiatives.
• Create and present business proposals, contracts, and lead negotiations.
• Oversee the full sales cycle, from lead generation to deal closure.
• Track business performance and market trends for regular updates.
• Report progress and insights to the Regional Commercial Director.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s in Mining Engineering or related field; advanced business qualifications a plus.
• 10+ years in explosives industry with proven business development or sales success.
• Strong reporting skills for sales economics, forecasting, and business modeling.
• Deep knowledge of mining industry and Sub-Saharan Africa market needs.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
• Fluent in English; regional languages a bonus.
• Highly mobile, ready for frequent regional travel.
• Able to work independently and juggle priorities in a fast-paced setting.
