Job Description:

To establish, implement and manage a best practice  mining operation to safely extract ore in the most efficient and productive manner to ensure an operating profit. This role manages mine overseers [directly] and Mine Technical Services [indirectly]. The incumbent operationalizes strategy by managing managers and specialists and the scope of this role includes the integrated planning and management of all resources to enable a profitable mining operation

Responsibilities:

• Process: Drive, coordinate and manage the mining function within the operational division
• Design, establish and embed effective and efficient mining structures, plans and governance structures
• Lead tactical direction setting and plan for the business area in alignment to the company’s strategy
• Establish and maintain relationships across functional areas to enable collaboration and knowledge sharing across the business.
• Manage a division that values differences and creates an inclusive work environment.
• Establish and oversee the budget that enables achievement of Mining/Production objectives
• Drive transformation in terms of people, automation/digitisation and sustainability and provide timely and robust change management to underpin initiatives
• Implement and drive HSEQ as a key aspect of organisational culture
• Establish reporting best practice for area of responsibility
• Monitor, audit and report on adherence to safety programme, policies and procedures

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• 15 Years Production Mining experience [Mechanised and Underground]
• 5 years mine management exposure.
• Excellent track record and similar experience in African countries advantageous.
• Proficiency in French and English preferred
• Degree or NDip [Mining/Engineering]
• Mechanised Mining experience
• Knowledge of different mining methods
• Budgeting/Finance
• SHEQ standards
• 10 Years underground experience
• Mine Managers Certificate
