Job Description:

Our client, a national mining service provider, is seeking a Site Buyer who will be responsible for effectively procuring goods for operations in the day to day purchasing function, by executing the relevant task associated with purchasing while ensuring all transactions conform to governance policy and procedures.



  • Ensure operational procurement needs are met in a timely and effective manner in accordance with policies, procedures and statutory requirements
  • Create and maintain accurate Request for Quotations (RFQs) ensuring timely responses from vendors
  • Negotiate pricing to ensure value for money paid taking a “total cost of ownership” approach for goods and services
  • Ensure all purchase requisitions for goods both stock and non-stock are compliant with Procurement processes and procedures, communicating in a timely fashion any discrepancies and non-compliances with end users for actioning
  • Ensure all purchase order adjustments are carried out in accordance with Procurement processes and procedures and immediately report all non-compliant transactions to the site buying lead for appropriate follow-up action
  • Perform the key tasks associated with establishing or amending a purchase order for goods
  • Update Purchase Orders with Supplier confirmation notifications
  • Manage all workflow in the purchasing queue in a timely manner
  • Actively manage open Purchase Orders in accordance with the process
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to track and measure delivery quality is in full and on time
  • Track open purchase orders and liaise with requesters to utilize or close out remaining open amounts
  • Notify end users where changes to the delivery date on Purchase Orders with impact the safety or scheduling of work
  • Seek opportunities to improve the overall efficiency of the Purchasing sub-function, including PO automation
  • Participate in Supply improvement projects as directed by the Procurement manager
  • Monitor expectations, understanding and application of Procurement processes within the team to support compliance with local requirements








Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • 2-year advanced certificate in supply chain management or a related discipline
  • 2 years’ experience in commercial / supply environment of which 1 year in a mining and metals environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAGE
  • A proven track record in delivering financial savings and meeting operational needs
  • South African Nationals are encouraged to apply
