Job Description:
Our client, an established multinational mining corporation, is seeking a Specialist Project Safety Manager to support the Principal PMO in managing the Elimination of Fatalities program and to support Integration Reporting and Business Planning for Group Safety. Group Safety’s purpose being to support a step change in business performance by developing the organization’s capability to manage risks and exploit opportunities in Safety across global operations.
Responsibilities:
- Exemplify a culture where safety and health are paramount and act as a role model by visibly leading by example and setting clear, consistent expectations, including consistent use of systems, symbols and behaviors aligned to company values & other mandated requirements.
- Create culture to embrace feedback and be open to challenge unsafe behaviors.
- Ensure application of safety & health principles in all operational and non-operational interactions.
- Project Management support for Elimination of Fatalities (EoF) workstream leads in Group Safety ensuring delivery of the work program outlined in the respective task assignments.
- Support the realization of interdependencies between EoF workstreams under the accountability of Group Safety, as well as those under the broader program.
- Support delivery of the Elimination of Fatalities workstream closure and sustaining processes across all workstreams.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Project Management processes, tools and systems that enable the consistent delivery of quality initiatives.
- Support with the integration of reporting, business planning, budgeting, and project management across for the Group Safety discipline.
- Support the delivery of change management strategies within Group Safety and across T&S as well as throughout the BU’s and wider Group.
- Build trust and credibility in managing relationships with internal networks, external vendors and contacts to achieve the effective delivery of the Elimination of Fatalities program and for the broader Safety discipline.
- Promote an open and collaborative environment by encouraging the sharing of information and resources across boundaries.
- Visibly demonstrate company behaviors and the Company values, while holding others accountable for doing the same.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- An undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline such as life sciences, environmental management, Technical, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Communications, or related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification in aforementioned fields desirable.
- An accomplished practitioner in the project management realm.
- Must be fluent in English, additional languages a bonus.
- A proven track record and practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity in a relevant discipline
- Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery within Safety improvement projects.
- Demonstrated success in project management, particularly managing change and stakeholder engagement in multi-national and multi-functional teams.
- Demonstrated success on business/process improvement projects.
- Understands the day-to-day activities within mining operations and discerns trends to develop and improve ways of working.
- Applies a systematic, knowledge-based problem-solving approach and structured to investigate risks and opportunities to create effective, value-add technical solutions.
- Pre-empts and defines the behaviors, organizational pressures, aspects of the mining environment and system implications that cause risk to the business, individuals, and communities.
- Applies an in-depth understanding of the mining value chain to identify and execute on opportunities where technical expertise can enhance business performance.
Benefits and Contractual information:
- Domestic and regional and international travel will be required.
- Work on site at Mine operations may be required.
