Job Description:
Our client a large magnet holding company is looking for an exceptional individual to assume the role of Zoo Director at their renowned zoo in Egypt. As the Zoo Director, you will be at the helm of managing and orchestrating all facets of the largest and most esteemed zoo in the country, a pivotal tourist attraction known for its diverse wildlife and exceptional visitor experience. Your role will involve managing the zoo's operations, animal care, visitor experience, staff management, budgeting, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will have a deep passion for wildlife conservation, a strong leadership ability, and exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive strategies, aligning them with the organization's objectives to ensure sustained growth and prominence of Egypt's largest zoo.
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations with a sharp focus on maintaining top-tier animal care, visitor safety, and an outstanding guest experience at one of Egypt's primary tourist destinations.
- Team Management: Lead and guide a multifaceted team comprising zookeepers, educators, administrative staff, and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and thriving work environment.
- Financial Stewardship: Direct the formulation and management of the annual budget, ensuring fiscal sustainability and accountability for the largest zoo in Egypt.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the board of directors, stakeholders, and community partners to heighten the zoo's visibility, engage in fundraising endeavors, and cultivate relationships with donors, recognizing the zoo's significance as a prime tourist spot in Egypt.
- Program Oversight: Supervise and ensure the quality, safety, and alignment of various entertainment programs and shows within the zoo with its core mission and values.
- Industry Adherence: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory standards, and best practices in animal care, conservation, and zoo management to maintain the zoo's stature as a top tourist destination in Egypt.
- Educational Initiatives: Develop and implement educational programs fostering wildlife conservation, environmental stewardship, and public awareness, further establishing the zoo's role as a premier educational institution in Egypt.
- Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of zoo facilities, enclosures, and landscaping to provide a secure and visually appealing environment for both animals and visitors, upholding the zoo's status as a primary tourist attraction in Egypt.
- Representation: Act as the zoo's ambassador, representing it at conferences, public forums, and events, locally and internationally, to promote its mission and values.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in zoology, biology, conservation, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in zoo management encompassing animal care, staff supervision, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Profound understanding of animal behaviour, welfare, and conservation practices, demonstrating a track record of implementing exemplary animal care and enrichment.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, adept at motivating and inspiring diverse teams of professionals.
- Strong organizational prowess, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and adeptness at managing multiple tasks concurrently.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with staff, visitors, donors, and community stakeholders.
- Proven expertise in budget development, financial management, and successful fundraising endeavours.
- Familiarity with pertinent legislation, regulations, and standards governing zoo operations.
- Experience in managing and overseeing entertainment programs within a zoo or similar entertainment venues.
- A deep-seated passion for wildlife conservation and environmental education.
