Job Description:

Our client, an established mining house with operations and exploration interests across Africa, is seeking an experienced VP Exploration to lead its exploration strategy and resource growth portfolio.

Reporting to the COO, the successful candidate will oversee Greenfields, brownfields and near-mine exploration activities, driving target generation, discovery, resource delineation and project advancement. The role will also support the evaluation and acquisition of new exploration opportunities across Africa.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the Group exploration and resource growth strategy.
• Manage a balanced portfolio of Greenfields, brownfields and near-mine exploration projects.
• Drive target generation, discovery drilling and Mineral Resource growth.
• Oversee geological modelling, geochemistry, geophysics, structural geology and remote sensing programs.
• Lead resource definition, extensional and exploration drilling campaigns.
• Manage annual exploration programs, budgets, contractors and technical service providers.
• Evaluate new projects, licenses, joint ventures and strategic exploration opportunities.
• Support technical due diligence, acquisitions and entry into new jurisdictions.
• Establish exploration governance, QA/QC, geological database and reporting standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable reporting standards including JORC and S-K 1300.
• Introduce innovative exploration technologies and data-driven targeting methodologies.
• Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary exploration teams across African operations.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related discipline.
• Master’s Degree in Economic Geology, Mineral Exploration or similar preferred.
• Professional geological registration is advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years’ mineral exploration experience.
• At least 5–10 years’ senior exploration leadership experience.
• Proven track record in the discovery and advancement of gold and copper deposits.
• Strong African exploration and operational experience.
• Extensive experience in drilling, target generation, geological modelling and resource development.
• Experience supporting feasibility studies, project evaluations and resource-to-reserve conversion.
• Exposure to M&A technical due diligence, project acquisitions, joint ventures and exploration portfolio management.

Contractual Information:

• Permanent contract with probationary period.
