Job Description:

Our client, an established mining services provider is seeking a Senior Supply Chain Manager who will develop and monitor the company’s procurement & supply chain (P&SC) strategy, with the goal to improve productivity and efficiency and reduce costs while securing high quality materials. The incumbent will keep track of logistics and update the company’s inventory, analyse operational performance and resolve issues.

Responsibilities:  

  • Drive P&SC strategy and operational efficiency, processes and procedures, with a proactive and hands-on approach, including resource optimisation and profitability maximization.
  • Collaborate with the relevant departments, site and contract managers to ensure P&SC provides a reliable and credible offering to the Head office and site locations.
  • Understand the key commodities critical to ensuring business continuity.
  • Plan, manage and coordinate all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies, including improving systems and processes to meet this objective.

  • Review and update P&SC policies, procedures and practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, laws, inclusive procurement and supply chain sustainability (human rights, fair labour practices, environmental progress, anti-corruption policies etc.).
  • Create assurance to the CFO that P&SC principles and practices are adhered to and advise CFO with regards to Supply Market related matters and trends.
  • Lead a P&SC team.
  • Ensure effective Fleet management.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • A minimum of 10 years’ working experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a P&SC function within a similar sized business.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain standards, policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of the mining industry would be advantageous
  • A strong delivery and continuous improvement orientation, effective in getting things done with the most effective use of resources, constantly seeking new efficiencies.

Our client, a mining group, is seeking a Project Finance Controller, to manage finance/cost controlling functions related to the mine’s ongoing operations and expansion projects. They will be responsible to analyze and maintain cost control systems and processes to ensure assigned projects remain on budget. They will support the FP&A manager in multiple administrative capacities but will primarily be responsible for recording, invoicing, identifying deviations from approved budgets and notifying and working with project team to develop and publish budget and finance documents.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain cost control systems updated with the project finance data.
• Ensure all transactions are processed timely and accurately, including payment requests, purchase orders, and invoice entries.
• Assist FP&A manger in budget planning, cost analysis and forecast reporting.
• Responsible for the accuracy of all projects related financials including budget vs actuals, monthly expenditures, projected cash payments.
• Assisting with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for the assigned portions of the project/programs
• Coordinate with procurement personnel and Project Managers to ensure purchase orders and payment requests are processed on-time.
• Interface with contractors and vendors for requesting information or clarification related to invoices and change order.
• Provide accurate and timely financial analysis, communication, ongoing monitoring and evaluation for programs and teams to aid in decision-making for improved financial performance.
• Responsible for controlling and monitoring project total expenditure, including verifying and checking of invoices from suppliers to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill
• Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Must have at least 3 years’ experience in similar role
• Must be very proficient in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc)
• Hands-on experience and general knowledge of cost management, including budgeting, management accounting, forecasting, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and control the process plant maintenance activities to ensure maximum availability.
  • Manage the human resources, facilities, and operational resources of maintenance department.
  • Execute maintenance plans in safe, environmentally compliant and cost effective.
  • Lead and manage plant maintenance team responsible for executing maintenance plans and tasks.
  • Execute operational maintenance activities based on equipment maintenance strategies.
  • Oversee maintenance activities such as preventive/ predictive maintenance, downtime repairs.
  • Direct supervision and QA/QC for maintenance tasks and backlog completion.
  • Develop and implement best practices, processes, policies, and systems within plant maintenance which align with organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Liaise with plant operations and other sections to ensure equipment downtimes are coordinated effectively in such a way to achieve the company’s production targets.
  • Control maintenance costs and manage budget.
  • Set priorities, performance targets and measures, monitor and manage KPI’s of direct supervising staff.
  • Provide safety leadership in maintenance activities, and attend safety meetings,

Requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma, Certificate IV or Mechanical Trade qualified.

  • Experience on pumps, valves, crushers, mills, vibrating screens, conveyors, pipe fitting.
  • Solid understanding of Maintenance planning and execution.
  • Experience within the mining sector in Africa or remote work locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote SMGO Health, Safety and Environmental actions for optimum performance.
  • Partake in actively driven housekeeping and loss control.
  • Maintain discipline and performance management among the members of the plant.
  • Take appropriate actions in case of irregularities or emergencies in consultation with relevant stakeholders including plant Operators, Supervisors, Managers etc.
  • Monitors and reports on any Security issues in and around the gold room, high grade areas and gravity circuit.
  • Develops and maintains good bookkeeping standards for the gravity circuit, gold room and gold bearing materials.
  • Preparation of gold production related information for the Plant Manager and/or Operations Superintendent
  • Promote and support innovation & continuous improvement of work practices/processes in the gravity circuit/gold room/high grade areas and progressively built into the operation.
  • Establishes and monitors all production KPI’s and develops and implement solutions for any KPI that is deviating from target.
  • Reports and makes recommendations to Process Management based on operational information and trends
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of production data and generates gold room production forecasts (daily, weekly, and monthly) for use by Process Management
  • Tracks all production and metallurgical KPI’s and responds to solve any KPI that is deviating from target within their defined area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
  • Ensure every person within the team is fit for work.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification – BEng or BSc Chemical Engineering, Minerals Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy or equivalent.
  • 10 + years mineral processing experience (preferably gold), including at least 5 + years project related working experience (preferably in Africa).
  • Demonstrated operational experience with SABC grinding, gravity recovery, CIL and AARL elution circuits at a minimum, with TSF, flotation & refractory ore processing experience an added benefit.
  • Awareness of relevant dangerous good legislation, locally and selected international codes.
  • Conversant with the general criteria of the cyanide management code.
