Our client, a mining house in Sierra Leone, is seeking a processing supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a processing plant, ensuring both safety and efficiency.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, objectives and regulations and the commitment to achieving Zero Harm through safe behaviours.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Ability to interpret supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for improving performance of process circuit.
  • Minimum diploma or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., process engineering, chemical engineering, mining technology).
  • Several years of experience in a processing plant environment, preferably in a supervisory role.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to oversee all EHS requirements at their mine in the Northern Cape, South Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring employees have a clear understanding on working safely, following safety procedures and the importance thereof through on-going training and enforcement.
  • Coordinating incident and accident investigations, Environmental Health and Safety Systems and updating documents and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance to EHS legislation and standards.
  • Compiling regular safety and risk control reports.
  • Assist in setting SHE standards and maintaining them to ensure Health and Safety Regulations are enforced.
  • Assist in conducting environmental, health and safety audits.
  • Co-ordinate and conduct training as required and ensure that training records are maintained and updated.
  • Scheduling and overseeing planned job observations at the required intervals specified and ensuring that recommendations made are implemented.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • COMSOC 2 Diploma or SAMTRAC for mines essential.
  • Safety Management Diploma, Competent A, Legal Liability or other similar safety qualification advantageous.
  • Matric certificate.
  • 5+ years’ experience in all EHS aspects of operational mines.
  • Training in the Mine Health and Safety Act, Risk Prevention, Incident Investigation and EHS.
  • Strong verbal and written English and Afrikaans communication skills.
  • Problem solver with attention to detail.
  • Computer literate in MS Office and Safety Systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
