Our client, a listed mineral development company focused on critical minerals, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geologist to take ownership of the company’s geology function across multiple African projects. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will be primarily remote and will focus on consolidating and analysing geological data, ensuring compliance with international reporting standards, and supporting resource and reserve estimation. The successful candidate will play a key role in both existing project delivery and new project evaluation, contributing to strategic decision-making at a corporate level.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement geological work plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with the CEO
- Ensure compliance with EHS standards across geology operations
- Establish and manage QAQC systems, including SOP development and implementation
- Oversee geological data handling, processing, validation, and review
- Coordinate and manage service providers (database systems, laboratories, consultants, competent persons)
- Monitor, supervise, and support field teams remotely, with occasional site visits
- Support techno-economic modelling and project evaluation
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, maps, and data outputs for internal and external stakeholders
- Identify and generate targets aligned with company growth strategy
- Conduct technical due diligence and project reviews for potential acquisitions
Experience and Skills:
- Degree or Advanced Degree in Geology or Mineral Exploration
- Minimum 6–10 years’ experience in mineral exploration and/or mining across multiple commodities
- Strong experience in resource modelling and estimation
- Proficiency in geological modelling and mining software (e.g. Leapfrog, Datamine, Surpac, Micromine)
- Experience with GIS software
- Strong QAQC and data management experience
- Familiarity with international reporting standards (JORC, NI 43-101, SAMREC or equivalent)
- Experience with techno-economic modelling and project evaluation
- Exposure to metallurgy and/or mining engineering advantageous

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement training and organisational development strategies to support large-scale onboarding and upskilling initiatives.
- Coordinate and validate Training Needs Analyses (TNA) and Skills Gap Assessments in collaboration with operations and line management.
- Develop departmental training plans and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) aligned with approved training matrices and project skill requirements.
- Design and deliver targeted learning interventions, including internal trainer development programs to reduce reliance on external providers.
- Track and report on Return on Investment (ROI) for all training initiatives.

Qualification and Skill:

- Accreditation as a Trainer and Assessor is mandatory.

Our client is undertaking a strategic expansion into direct Run-of-Mine (ROM) ore processing across multiple operations, requiring the design, construction, and standardisation of crushing and milling plants. The Group Crushing & Comminution Engineer will act as the technical authority responsible for designing, commissioning, and standardising crushing and milling systems across the group. The role will ensure processing plants are robust, resilient to ore variability and seasonal conditions, and aligned with long-term operational performance and capital efficiency objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, specification, and optimisation of crushing and milling circuits (primary–tertiary crushing and grinding) across multiple operations.
- Develop scalable plant designs, ensuring robust, maintainable, and operationally practical systems.
- Perform comminution calculations including Bond Work Index, circulating load, grind size optimisation, & power draw.
- Integrate crushing and milling circuits with downstream gold recovery processes, including gravity recovery systems.
- Develop and implement ROM ore processing strategies to improve processing efficiency for low-grade ore.
- Design processing plants capable of handling variable ore characteristics, clay-rich material, high moisture content, and tramp metal contamination while ensuring consistent throughput across seasonal conditions.
- Standardise crushers, mills, and key equipment across sites to optimise maintenance, reduce spare parts complexity, and improve lifecycle cost efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership in capital project execution, including equipment specification, procurement support, contractor governance, and commissioning oversight.
- Review contractor designs, approve fabrication drawings, and oversee installation QA/QC and plant commissioning.
- Monitor plant performance across sites, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement in throughput, reliability, and mechanical availability.
- Safeguard capital investments by ensuring infrastructure design aligns with long-term operational performance and cost efficiency objectives.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
- Professional engineering registration advantageous.
- 10–15 years’ post-graduate experience in heavy industrial processing environments.
- Demonstrated experience in crushing and comminution system design and optimisation.
- Experience designing or working with ≥200 tph crushing circuits preferred.
- Background in high-tonnage processing industries such as hard rock mining, cement, copper, or iron ore.
- Proven experience in plant construction and commissioning, including at least two plant builds.
- Operational plant experience (not purely consulting).
- Experience managing contractor-led construction and installation projects.
- Strong knowledge of comminution theory, equipment specification, liner optimisation, and wear management.
- Ability to assess lifecycle cost implications and capital efficiency of engineering decisions.
