Our client is a US non-profit funder-doer that builds projects to expand human agency at scale. They embed engineers and product managers directly inside evidence-based nonprofits across East Africa, South Asia, and beyond, helping them build data infrastructure, run experiments, and scale impact through automation and product thinking. Their small, global team combines expertise in software, AI, social psychology, and development economics, and their community of 200+ partner organizations reaches millions of people annually.
Our client is growing its technical team to meet accelerating demand from its portfolio and is hiring a Technical Product Manager to work at the heart of its accelerator. Embedded with 3–4 NGO partners at a time, you will lead product engagements end-to-end and help shape how the organization delivers at scale. This is a senior, delivery-focused role, split roughly 50/50 between partner-facing and internal-facing work.
Responsibilities:
- Partner engagement (50%): Act as the primary interface with 3–4 NGO partners at any given time, building trust, scoping collaborations, and surfacing pain points through structured discovery
- Translate partner needs into roadmaps and provide technical advisory on product, data, evaluation, and experimentation
- Report back on learnings from partner work, trace patterns across different organizations, and help release lessons learned in public goods that benefit the wider sector
- Product & engineering execution (50%): Build dashboards, data pipelines, AI evaluations and production integrations; analyze data to extract trends, run A/B tests and perform user research
- Define and drive product roadmaps across our client's tools, translating complex partner workflows into clear engineering requirements and running agile sprints with the engineering team
- Ship critical features and own the full loop from partner need to shipped product to feedback
- Team and talent (ongoing): Coach partner organization staff, help upskill their technical and leadership skills, and help them hire for critical roles
- Coach and mentor Lighthouse Fellows on how to navigate nonprofit partners, run structured engagements, and operate effectively in a resource-constrained environment
- Contribute to our client's internal playbook by documenting what works, codifying engagement frameworks, and building institutional knowledge
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Have 5+ years of experience in technical product management, solutions engineering, or tech consulting — ideally with both client/consumer-facing and engineering-facing responsibilities
- Have shipped AI/LLM product features, data pipelines or warehouses, and production APIs — not just managed people who did, but actually built alongside them
- Can read and write SQL, navigate a codebase, build data pipelines and dashboards
- Have demonstrated experience using quantitative and qualitative methods to define problem statements and measure effectiveness for causal inference (A/B tests etc.) or predictive analytics
- Can design a study, interpret the results, and present them to a non-technical programme director
- Are fluent in agile: sprints, backlog grooming, estimation and retrospectives, and can run these processes well in a small team
- Can demonstrate experience managing competing stakeholder needs across engineers, behavioral scientists, and NGO programme teams — without formal authority over any of them
- Bonus: Experience with global development data stacks such as ODK, DHIS2, Kobo, Metabase, dbt, or similar
- Bonus: Familiarity with the evidence-based development ecosystem — J-PAL, IPA, IDinsight, or similar RCT/MEL contexts
- Bonus: Proven experience scaling products with data-driven approaches
- Bonus: Exposure to GenAI product development — evaluation frameworks, prompt engineering and LLM integrations
- Bonus: A meaningful track record in a low-resource, mission-driven, or Tech for International Development context

Responsibilities:
- Sequence/Automation Design: Design, build, and iterate the SME low-touch activation sequences (signup, company created, pay frequency set, employees added, payslip finalised).
- Trigger & Automation Build: Work with Revenue Operations/HubSpot to ensure sequences fire on real product events, not just time-based batches.

- Client Development: Activate and convert trial and demo interest by identifying the real operational problem behind the enquiry and demonstrating the specific resolution. Conversion is earned in the interaction, and problem solving.

Our client is a fast-growing technology business operating within the Fintech and payments environment. They are seeking an experienced QA & Escalations Team Lead to take ownership of two critical functions within the business: Quality Assurance and Software Escalations.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing a team of eight specialists across QA and Technical Escalations. The successful candidate will be accountable for quality standards, technical investigations, workflow prioritization, team performance and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Leading two teams
- Manage eight people across QA and Escalations; assigning, prioritising and monitoring workload daily across both queues.
- Run regular 1:1s and quarterly performance reviews for both teams, giving direct, useful feedback and reporting on individual and team performance.
- Coach team members along genuine upskilling paths.
- Build on teams that already run well. Your job is to give that structure direction and formal ownership.
- Assess capability and capacity across both teams early, develop the strengths already there, and make the case for growth where the workload justifies it. We expect day-to-day triage to sit within the team, with you setting the policy and arbitrating the hard calls.
- Monitor workflow and capacity trends across both teams, and flag early when recruitment or capacity changes are needed.
- Onboard and mentor new team members.
- Owning quality (QA)
- Own and defend the standard of quality that leaves SimplePay, and the QA team's reputation for accuracy across the organisation.
- Set and maintain the standard for QA and Production Testing, including how results are documented on Jira tickets and in dedicated QA reports for larger features.
- Act as the routing point for work entering QA and distribute it across the team.
- Identify and escalate inconsistencies between specs, designs and implementation, and push back formally when an issue belongs with a Business Analyst, developer or another team.
- Handle last-minute and compliance-critical testing under tight deadlines, statutory deadlines do not move.
- Plan and expand automated end-to-end test coverage in Playwright and TypeScript, review test pull requests, and structure parallel automation workstreams across the team.
- Drive CI integration and evaluate new approaches.
- Owning resolution (Escalations)
- Own the escalations process end to end, and continuously improve it for efficiency, speed and quality.
- Set and enforce triage and prioritisation policy across the queue, from processing payroll or filing, through to low-impact issues, and personally arbitrate the hard calls.
- Ensure the team meets its response and resolution commitments, and that customers, internal teams and management are kept genuinely informed while an issue is open.
- Review escalations before they go to the development, Business Analysis or Legal Advisory teams, so that what arrives is well-evidenced, correctly prioritised and actionable.
- Represent escalated customer issues to the development team in the daily standup and the weekly priority meeting.
- Oversee monitoring and actioning of the exceptions dashboard and the daily sanity checks.
- Make sure root causes are addressed and preventative measures put in place, not just that individual tickets close.
- Connecting the two
- Close the loop between escalated defects and test coverage. Every recurring escalation is a gap, and you are the person positioned to see both sides and act on it.
- Own the shared technical ground both teams work on.
- Improve and standardise documentation across both teams.
- Report meaningfully on both functions. Defect escape rate, escalation volumes and ageing, automation coverage, and team capacity.
- Working across teams
- Liaise with Business Analysts, Knowledge Management, Legal Advisory, Finance and developers to close specification gaps before they become defects and escalations.
- Advocate for process improvements and see them through.
Requirements:
- At least 10 years in software quality assurance, technical support, escalations or a closely related field.
- At least 4 years in a formal people-management role with direct reports, including running 1:1s and formal performance reviews.
- Experience leading more than one team, or a single team with two distinct functions.
- A genuinely technical background. You can read a stack trace, reason about a database-level data issue, review test automation code, and challenge an investigation's conclusions on the evidence.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks; Playwright, Cypress or Selenium; and working proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, sufficient to review pull requests and set technical direction.
- Demonstrated experience running an interrupt-driven, SLA-bound queue; incident management, escalations, technical support or similar, including triage and prioritisation under pressure.
- Excellent written communication, including customer-facing incident communication.
- Proven ability to delegate and build depth rather than absorbing everything yourself.
- Abundant self-drive, with the ability to take ownership and deliver quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience working in a hybrid or fully remote, high-performing team.
- ISTQB certification or a relevant formal QA qualification.
- Experience in payroll, fintech, accounting or another compliance-heavy domain, where being wrong has consequences beyond a poor user experience.
- Experience with multi-region or multi-tenant products.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Sentry, Freshdesk (or a comparable helpdesk), Postman and GitHub.
- SQL or comparable data-investigation ability; enough to interrogate a data issue rather than only escalate it.
- Experience owning a defect escape rate, an SLA, or a comparable quality metric, and improving it.
- Experience bringing documentation, process and metrics up to standard.
- Experience testing RESTful APIs and mobile applications (Android and iOS).

About the Group:
Our client’s group is a Nigeria-based integrated agri-allied group with operations spanning the edible-oil and the agricultural value chain including raw-material sourcing, soybean processing, solvent extraction, edible-oil refining, bulk storage, value-added processing, distribution and commodity exports. The business is fast growing and an ambitious associate company of the group and is aggressively ramping up its palm plantation and allied operations.
About the Job:
The Plantation Manager / Head of Agronomy is based at the plantation in Nigeria, West Africa and will lead the end-to-end agronomic and field operations of a high growth large-scale oil palm plantation — the existing [5,000] planted hectares, and the expansion programme that will take the estate to 25,000 hectares, spanning early-stage, developing and maturing areas. The role carries full accountability for the estate’s agronomic standards, the planting and replanting programme, field productivity and the timely delivery of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to the mill and is the single point of technical authority on agronomy for the business.
The role requires deep understanding of the complete oil palm value chain, from soil management, seed sourcing, nursery management and land preparation through planting, field maintenance, plantation health, harvesting, evacuation and FFB quality, extending through to the interface with CPO milling operations. Knowledge of and experience in best-in-class agri practices is essential. Hands-on experience of taking immature areas through to stable mature yield in a high-rainfall tropical environment — including canopy management, cover establishment, census discipline and the first harvesting rounds — is a specific requirement of this role.
The Plantation Manager will provide objective-focused leadership across large, diverse multifunctional teams of [600–900] permanent, seasonal and contract personnel today, growing substantially as the estate is built out driving productivity, operational discipline, safety, quality and cost efficiency. The position requires strong budget planning, cost management and understanding of key cost-control levers — principally harvesting and upkeep labour productivity, fertiliser, and field-to-mill evacuation, which together typically account for [70–80]% of field cost. Proven experience managing large plantations, establishing robust processes and operating systems, and delivering measurable performance improvements is essential. Maturity, sound judgement, commercial understanding and strong process knowledge are critical to success.
The role also carries the community, host-landowner and outgrower interface within the plantation catchment — a decisive success factor in Nigeria — working alongside the Business Head and the Group’s stakeholder, legal and security functions.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Plantation Productivity: Achieve agreed targets for yield, FFB production, harvesting efficiency and plantation productivity. Indicative mature-area targets: FFB yield of [18–22] t/ha, palm stand held at [160] palms/ha, and year-on-year improvement against the block-wise yield ramp-up curve.
- End-to-End Operations: Ensure excellence across seed sourcing, nursery, planting, field upkeep, crop protection, harvesting, evacuation and FFB quality. Own an annual planting programme of [2,000–2,500] ha — the rate required to reach 25,000 hectares — and a nursery pipeline of [400,000–480,000] seedlings per annum at [160] palms/ha including nursery allowance, using approved Tenera material only, with full traceability of planting material from seed lot to block.
- Plantation Health: Maintain strong agronomic standards, palm health, soil fertility, pest/disease management and replanting programmes. Run a structured leaf and soil sampling cycle with site-specific fertiliser recommendations, legume cover crop establishment, pollinator (Elaeidobius kamerunicus) population management, and an active Ganoderma, rhinoceros beetle, leaf-miner and rodent surveillance and census regime.
- FFB Quality & Mill Interface: Deliver FFB to the mill at [>95]% ripe bunches, loose-fruit recovery of [>95]%, and within [24] hours of cutting, working to a [10]-day harvesting round, so that the mill’s OER and free fatty acid (FFA) targets are achievable. Jointly own the FFB grading protocol at the weighbridge with the Mill Manager.
- Cost & Budget Control: Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets; identify and actively manage major cost drivers and cost-control levers. Cost per hectare and cost per tonne FFB are the primary control metrics for this role.
- People Leadership: Build, lead and develop high-performing teams with clear objectives, accountability, performance management and succession planning, including a deliberate programme to build and promote Nigerian supervisory and management talent.
- Operational Systems: Establish disciplined SOPs, reporting, controls, planning and performance-monitoring systems across the plantation. Digitise block-level records — GIS/block mapping, census, harvesting, upkeep, fertiliser and labour productivity — into a single plantation MIS with a weekly management dashboard.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain high standards of occupational safety, environmental stewardship, statutory compliance and operational governance, including RSPO-aligned practice, zero-burn land preparation, HCV and peat avoidance, and NESREA and Nigerian labour-law compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify productivity, efficiency and technology opportunities and translate them into measurable operational gains, including selective mechanisation of harvesting, in-field evacuation and fertiliser application.
- Land Development & Stakeholder Relations: Support land identification, survey, titling and host-community agreements; manage day-to-day community, labour and traditional-authority relationships so that field operations are not interrupted.
- Estate Infrastructure: Maintain estate roads, bridges, culverts, drainage, water supply, workshops, stores and labour housing to a standard that sustains harvesting and evacuation through the full wet season.
Reporting & Organisation:
- Reports to: Business Head
- Dotted line: Group technical / agriculture leadership, for standards and audit
- Direct reports (indicative): Estate / Field Managers [2–3] today, rising with the planted area; Agronomist and Plant Protection lead; Nursery Manager; Harvesting & Evacuation Manager; Plantation Engineering & Civil; Plantation HR & Admin; Stores and field procurement
