Technical Support Engineer, Technical Engineering, Product Support Engineer, Lube Engineer, Mechanic Supervisor.

What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?

My reasoning for getting into this industry was to secure myself with a good future and of course a  good salary.

What qualifications and experience did you have to gain in order to establish yourself and therefore become a professional  within your industry?

I have gained vast experience in being able to provide valuable knowledge within my industry, capturing new ideas and maintaining positive approaches in order to achieve set goals and objectives.

What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

  1. Liaising with customers who all vary in personality, beliefs, cultures and needs;
  2.  Customer service;
  3. Conducting new training for product support.

How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

It is very important to discuss with the team the various solutions in order to grab the most effective and suiting option.

What has been the highlight of your career?

Achieving the position Lead Hand Maintenance.

If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary?

One is paid in accordance with the basic level of skills and receive training & motivation in accordance with the proposed work. As a trainee you can expect roughly a  basic level salary amounting to 1200-1500 USD per month.

What can this person expect to earn after 10 years of experience?

Approximately for 10 years plus experiences 6000-8000 USD per month.

Who is your role model and why?

I would definitely have to say my line manager because not only has he taught me a lot but also has showed me how to be a team leader.

What motivates you to work this hard?

Factors that motivate me to work hard are to maintain independence and to improve my salary earnings. Additionally, I feel comfortable working with the team I am part of currently which definitely makes it easier to be in a hard working environment.

What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?

My goals and needs for the next couple of years are all aimed at improving my career level, skills and industry knowledge.

As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?

What a tough question, I personally believe that the entire African continent is THE hub spot and place to be… as long as it is safe and comfortable to live.
