What industry do you work in and what exactly are your skills?
I work within the field of Public Relations and my skills are Media Management, blogging, strategic thinking and image branding, event managing and project management.
What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?
I was inspired to enter this line of work because I love technology and interacting with people at different levels.
What qualifications and experience did you have to gain In order to establish yourself and therefore become a professional within your industry?
I have diploma In Journalism, BA in Media & Commuication, Postgraduate Dip in Telecommunication and Information Policy, now persuing Msc Porject management and Post Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management. I have acquired different skills in different fields so that I can be able to understand different lingos as it is one of the way you can keep onboard as Public Relation, thus to be diverse and conversant in different fields and also be able to deal with media on different levels.
What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?
The most challenging aspect in my field is not knowing your customer because you end up creating resistance and barrier of communication e.g addressing rural clients using wrong medium or simply not knowing what your customer needs.
How do you manage and overcome these challenges?
As the head of Public Relations in my organization I always ensure that we conduct workshops and consultations to educate and inform them on new policies and products and also solicit feeback from them to get to understand them better. I also engage in visiting them, carrying out questionnaires. And also to build rapport.
What has been the highlight of your career?
Highlights of my career was when I was working at the national television station, leading the crew during the first live magazine talkshow programme. Another highlight was when I was leading the organization during negotiations on a sponsorship deal during sports awards television rights and been involved in drafting and finalization of MoU of the awards.
If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary?
Roughly between ten to twenty five thousands per month
What can this person expect to earn after 10 years of experience?
At least thirty thousand to forty five thousand per month.
Who is your role model and why?
Tracy Anderson and Ray Martin, they have what it takes in the field and their interviewing skills are cut above the rest.
What motivates you to work this hard?
My team and the organization culture, you never stop acquiring new knowledge in the field from stone age to new technology. There is nothing like aging in the field too. You got with the beat!
What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?
I really what to see the industry growing, people with passion to go beyond their capabilities, adopting to motto of nothing isimpossible
As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?
Sudan as a whole is not will be the hot spot because it has potential and also the area is rich on its own.
