I am a Mine Surveyor working in the Mining Industry.

As a Mine Surveyor I am a versatile self-starter who can adapt to any environment quickly.
What inspired you to qualify as a Mine Surveyor?
I have always wanted to participate in the production/primary industry given the natural resources based economies nature of African countries.
What is the most challenging aspect to working as a Mine Surveyor ?
This kind of job demands high accuracy which if not, may distort the purpose of the job.
How do you manage and overcome challenges that come with being a Mine Surveyor?
The secret is to adopt a teamwork approach which allows team members to verify each other’s work. In the absence of this, systems can be put in place that self check the work of a Mine Surveyor.
What has been the highlight of your career as a Mine Surveyor?
I once took part in an exploration project which used tunnels. One of the tunnels had to hole into each other and I did that survey.The result was a perfect holing.
If somebody starts as a Mine Surveyor trainee / beginner, what could they earn in salary?
My estimate would be $1000 for average companies while big companies I estimate $2000.
What can a Mine Surveyor expect to earn after 10 years of experience?
Around $2000 for average companies and $6000 big companies.
What advice can you offer other people working as a Mine Surveyor?
Get as much practical experience as possible in executing almost all aspects of qualifying as a Mine Surveyor.

Where in Africa have you worked before as a Mine Surveyor?
I have worked in Malawi, Zimbabwe.
As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?
Democratic Republic of Congo. The country is big and endowed with various mineral resources. Should the country continue in the pursuit of political stability and it can easily attain the investor destination status.

Africa is made up of upcoming markets which have fast growth potential.
