Accounting Officer

I was inspired to be part of this sector because of the number crunching, and the good rewards associated with the profession.

What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

For me personally what I find challenging is the need to pursue various professional courses (in addition to the commerce degree) so as to keep abreast with changes in the industry. This is very costly and requires a balance between work and study time

How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

I manage these challenges by working and studying part-time (evening classes) as this helps bridging the gap of financing the studies.

Where in Africa have you worked before?

I have worked in the United Republic of Tanzania.

As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?

I would say Tanzania. The recent discovery of oil and gas fields has brought so many global major players into the country. Currently they are busy doing the set-ups, sending local workforce overseas for advanced training, providing scholarships to local students to enhance their capacities. The future really looks very bright.

CA Global is a big believer in Africa, why do YOU believe in Africa?

Africa is a developing continent, there are still so many untapped opportunities to be pursued, and this provides room for so much innovation, creativity, growth. It is time for us Africans to stand and be counted.
