What industry do you work in?

My career focuses on HVAC expertise.

What are your strengths?

My strengths are Formulating Business Strategies, Mentoring and team building, Aggressiveness in Sales/ Business Development, Good at relationship development, Detailing, Timely decision making and leadership skills.

What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?

I acknowledged an increased growth rate in all developing countries concerning the HVAC industry and better prospects.

What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

Quality manpower and works are challenging aspects within this field.

How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

Through periodic training programs and mentoring as well as working continuously on the motivation levels of employees.

What has been the highlight of your career?

  1. The strategic launch of HITACHI Heat Recovery Green Chillers in India in 2007 and improved the market share in hospitality industry from 6% to 18% in 2 years,
  2. I sold and commissioned the first VRF system in India in 2002, attained a leadership position for HITACHI  in this product category;
  3. I locally developed  GEA BOCK Chillers for Pharma industry in 2011. The results were positive due to the high sales I achieved in a short time-frame;
  4. During my tenure with ISF-GRAM between 2004 and 2007, I positioned the company  as a solution provider and expanded the product portfolio to improve on company’s Turn Over;
  5. I successfully executed and commissioned  the largest HVAC contract for 4 nos. 210MW Thermal Power Plants on Time while at Blue Star Limited
  6. I established the  successful business operation for DANFOSS in India and received individual recognition in 2000
  7. I received Individual recognition for developing the most compact ductable air conditioners with interchangeable fan deck in TRAC Fujico, resulted in exceeding the sales budget expectations,                                                                                     – Consistent  performer for more than 2 decades. 

If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary?

CTC : Between USD6000 – USD10,000/annum approx. for a fresh graduate & local (not expatriate)

What can this person expect to earn after 10 years of experience?

CTC : Between USD25,000 – USD30,000/annum approx.

What advice can you offer people who are in the same industry as you?

The HVAC industry is most promising in growth considering the environmental changes taking place world wide. Hence, improve on knowledge for better prospects.

As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?

Since I am not placed at Africa, I’ll not be able to comment on this. At the same time, looking at the HVAC industry, the better prospects are seen in South Africa, Angola, Zambia, Nigeria, Ghana based on the potential volume and growth in Realty sector.

  1. Large scale natural resources in Africa.
  2. Potential market for HVAC due to tropical zone.
  3. Iinvestment on infrastructure by State Goverments & United Nations.
  4. Low cost Labour force in comparison to many developing countries.
